If AutumnWinds were a character in The Lord of the Rings, she would be Legolas, Elf, a son of the King of Mirkwood.
"To the Sea, to the Sea! The white gulls are crying, the wind is blowing, and the white foam is flying. West, west away, the round sun is falling. Grey ship, grey ship, do you hear them calling, the voices of my people that have gone before me? I will leave, I will leave the woods that bore me; for our days are ending and our years failing. I will pass the wide waters lonely sailing."
Who would you be?
That's obviously not the best picture of Legolas from the movie, but nonetheless, I thought it was kind of cool. Except for the gender transition. And yes, I edited it a bit. The song I quoted is from Return of the King.
Kind of a blase day today. I got up at 4:30 and was able to take a long walk outside to greet the day. I also happened to be the first person at the opening of the campus' new rec center (I would have been the first person in, but some guy cut and I had to settle for being the first woman. I was also the first woman to round the indoor track). The rec center is a really nice building, but all it has right now are about a million exercise machines. It's like a big glorified weight room. Hopefully, things will be better when the climbing rock and the outdoor program stuff opens up.
I liked the girls' locker room. They have a neat little gadget there that sucks the water out of wet swimsuits. Interestingly, there is no pool. Unless people exercise in their swimsuits and sweat a lot, I didn't really see the point. There's a nice sauna, though. Redwood smells nice.
Classes were pretty blah. I didn't get enough of the sunrise this morning, so I took a long walk up on the hill by the house around sundown. I'd been sitting in my room sewing for hours (embroidery) and I was feeling way too sessile. I found that the pussywillows are starting to bud. I haven't seen a pussywillow tree since I was five--cool. It was a nice walk--very quiet and peaceful, no cars or people around. Just the quail and the first-quarter moon.
Other than that, that's been my day. I'm off to check my laundry, then study for Friday's ecology exam before curling up with a book (Interview With the Vampire). I'm not sure what's up; I just don't feel like...anything.
I hope something happens soon. I hope something unbelievably wonderful happens soon.
