Sierra Night

(no subject)

Things to do today:

*pick up Mireille
*return movies
*go to scrapbook store for more paper
*potentially go to mall (brave hordes?) to return one or two abominable presents, including my Mom's knit vest with little Scottie dogs trotting across the bottom, and my sensuous pear-scented lotion (I have enough lotion for the next 5 years).
*pick up pictures
*potentially go to Barnes and Noble to return book
*potentially go to Bed Bath and Beyond for a towel and mat
*come back to house for tea

QUILTQUILTQUILT

I AM STARTING A NEW QUILT OMG.

I am not the least bit excited or anything.

It's going to be in a double wedding-ring pattern, pieced out. It will take me a few years, probably. But it will be lovely. This will be a new challenge for me because I'll be working in curves for the first time, so I'm going to need to be extremely precise, because there's much less room for error and/or fudging.

First of all, I need to figure out what colors I'll be using, because I need to go out and get the fabric. All I'm certain of is that it needs to include turquoise, because I want to stick in a few fun bits of my turquoise aboriginal print. Everything else is fair game. One possibility is that I could alternate the hues of the rings, and have one set in turquoise shades, and one in either navy or ice blue. In that case, I think a background of either a rich gold or a butter yellow would be nice. Or a sand. Ooo, sand.

I could also incorporate a rich green, a forest green, or some deep browns, but I don't want it to get too loud. I also love the colors of Seattle sunsets...butter yellow, pale green, turquoise, indigo, and purple. I don't know if I could work that in here, though.

I need color combo ideas. I hate red. And DRAT IT, I left my huge vat o' crayons in Moscow.
