*The complete boxed set of The History of the Lord of the Rings, including The Return of the Shadow, The Treason of Isengard, The War of the Ring, and The End of the Third Age. Used, at half price, but like new.
*The Bitch Posse, by Martha O'Connor, recommended to me by my uncle a few years ago, who is the only person who has recommended books to me that I wind up loving with a 100% success rate (hardback, used, like new).
*The Gilded Chamber, by Rebecca Kohn, a novel about Queen Esther I've been meaning to get to.
*There And Back Again: An Actor's Tale, by Sean Astin, an autobiography-type book about his experiences making the LOTR movies. New. Good so far.
*A copy of Ender's Shadow, by Orson Scott Card, to replace my old copy that I can't seem to find. Used. I wish they made it in trade paperback.
Today I exchanged my Christmas suet feeder for one that will keep the starlings out, deposited some old traveler's checks, deposited a Christmas check, got added onto my parent's safe deposit box in case of disaster, helped Mom look for new shoes, and (totally by accident) found tabi socks for Tyler at Shiga (on the Ave) of the tough grade that Japanese construction workers wear. They're called jika/gika tabi, and I've been looking for them for ages. Score!
I am now sitting in front of a cozy fire, alternately reading four books and working on a 1,000-piece jigsaw puzzle of the world.
I feel like taking book recommendations. Post them here with justification, if you have any you're currently passionate about. :)
