I have a virus in my body that makes canker sores crop up much more often than they do for average people. It was hell when I had braces, because more often the not, the sore would be right on top of a metal bracket, which was agony. I once had a big one in the back of my mouth where my headgear clipped in that hurt so badly I couldn't eat for a week. I lost 10 lbs.
Right now, I've had about two sores in my mouth at a time since Thanksgiving. Listerine numbs the pain a bit and helps them heal faster, but it doesn't stop new ones from developing. As soon as I lose one (takes about 9 days), another one develops. Most have been in relatively benign places, and they're minor as sores go, but they're still painful and aggravating to the point where I feel compelled to write a bitchy LJ post about it, because my patience with having constant sores in my mouth ran out last month. Argh argh argh.
Oddly, I've never had a cold sore.
Feel free to share your canker woes or miracle cures.
On a different note, I'm currently working on the pretty stamps to decorate the save-the-date cards for our wedding. I'm extremely pleased and satisfied with the way it looks.
