Books are delicious

One of the reasons I buy a lot of books is because I always read them over and over again, which also means I'm sometimes slow to pick up new fare. However, despite the size of my collection, I reached a stagnant point last fall where I felt like I'd memorized everything and couldn't bear to read any of my own books again for at least a few years. So, in the past few months, I've read more new books than I have in a long time.

Here's what I've been drinking down, and some ratings (1 to 10). I'd love to discuss any one of these in depth, justify my selections and ratings, or provide recommendations if anyone's interested.

*Middlesex, by Jeffery Eugenides (9.2)
*Schindler's List, by Thomas Keneally (8.0)
*Black Swan Green, by David Mitchell (8.9)
*A Fine and Private Place, by Peter S. Beagle (7.8)
